in assignments, taking and re-taking tests, allowing late work, allowing extra credit, etc etc.

I have two kids in college and three more in 8th grade and high school. There is such a difference from teacher to teacher on things like this. It’s interesting to see. Is it what you remember from school? Is it what you learned? A study you read? Trial and error? Gut feeling? Just really interesting to me how it’s not more similar across the school or grade level or whatever.

And P.S.....letting kids turn in work “whenever” is the dumbest thing you can teach a kid.
