I totally agree with you that teachers are all completely different. Our district and our school usually dictates a lot of policies and we have to keep them. Our school got so many parent calls that some teachers were way easier and way more lenient and now they wanted their kid in that class. So our school was forced to make rules and guidelines and we are supposed to try and be as uniform as possible. It’s across the board, cell phones in class, grade weight percentages, etc. in fact they know show us grade distributions of different teachers and want them to match up. We can’t give 0, just 50%. There are so many things now it’s draining to keep up, especially trying to do class participation when remote.
