encourage students to come talk to me if they have problems or expect they will need some kind of accommodation for an assignment or exam. When they do come to talk to me, I try to be flexible (within reason). In other words, I want students to take responsibility for their actions, but open up dialogue and communication with me. I'm not interested in being needlessly punitive, I want to help them succeed as much as possible.
