Info On UVU Football Team Potential
To my knowledge there is no plan to add a football team in the near-future however...

1. Because they have the largest student-body in Utah, I could easily see them pursuing a team.
2. They own half of Utah County -this is an exaggeration of course- but they do own a TON of land and an entire sporting complex in Vineyard in what they call their "Vineyard Campus" meaning there will eventually be additional buildings in that area with plenty of space for a stadium.
3. They also are expanding to Payson and Lehi meaning they very-well could have the largest collective campus in Utah (including their Wasatch Campus near Heber).
4. They are serious about their athletics. Yes, they were able to replace Mark Pope with a 2x NBA champ in Mark Madsen, but people often forget that their Wrestling team is a part of the Big-12. They also are finishing a huge "Student-Athlete Wellness Building" following a multi-million dollar donation from doTerra.
5. Pt. Astrid Tuminez is HUGE on UVU athletics. She frequently is in the front row with pom-poms cheering on their teams and she even colored a part of her hair green. She wants them to thrive.

It would be a huge financial under-taking for a mostly state-funded school. I do believe that, if the deal makes sense one day, they would jump at the chance. For now, don't be surprised when UVU is starting to contend in the WAC and bringing in more high-caliber recruits. I completely believe it's in the cards to add a team and if you don't believe me, just check out the Vineyard Campus.
