The whole thing stemmed from Maile’s 3 pillars of recruiting he submitted. It’s why Cockett even talked about it.
Frank Maile stated he would use 3 pillars of recruiting: Polynesians, RMs, Local Kids. Maile ultimately didn't get the job.
One of USU's football players texted the USU president and asked for a meeting to get feedback on Frank not getting the job.
In that meeting Cockett told the players she felt Frank's recruiting strategy wasn't inclusive enough. That then involved into a discussion with the players about their diversity and if they felt welcome at USU. That's what took place that caused all of this.
