This is the epitome of "Sour Grapes"
Sorry but it is.
Read the Aesop fable and you'll see. Fox wants grapes. Can't reach them. "Ah, they were probably sour anyway"
Try to get/keep something.

Might be right on the opinion, but Aesop hasn't been getting the pub lately he deserved, so thought I'd point out his wise insights into human nature.
