You simply do not do that on national television. You don't ambush someone like that on national television.

If somewhere, sometime Shaq pulled Donovan aside and said the exact same thing in private, and it was legitimately done because he sees the potential for him to do more, that would be absolutely great. This was not that.

Instead Donovan plays like playoff Donovan, leads the team to a league high 7th straight victory, and gets ambushed by "I told everyone I don't think what you have what it takes. What do you have to say about that?"

This wasn't a studio interview where there's prep and areas of discussion are laid out in advance, to include controversial issues. This was a post-game interview after a game where Donovan played at an MVP level.

Is the world going to come to a screeching halt because of this? No. But anyone with any sense of decency, any humanity will look at what transpired and there will be judgment. And the judgment will all be on Shaq. And that's exactly where it should be.

Donovan stayed on the high road. Shaq was in the sewer.
