Late season pheasants are typically runners, not flyers. Flyers are the first
Flyers are the first one shot. However, flying is how you get away from a fox or coyote. For a pheasant, it is a genetic rock and a hard place. Run and you get away from humans (but not canids). Fly and you avoid the fox/coyote but get shot by me.
