- Look at their roster and tell me that looks comparable to the Jazz. It just doesn't. The Jazz are a better team from top to bottom than that Hawks team was with substantially better bench play. The Hawks are the quintessential "better than the sum of their parts" team while the Jazz legitimately have 3 guys who deserved to be all stars this season. They also have the 6th man of the year who is capable of starting for virtually every NBA team. Including the Jazz.
- Look at the point differential. The Hawks were +5.4 that year while the Jazz are currently +10.1. The Jazz look a lot like a team when you look at the stats from that year, but it isn't the Hawks. It's the GSW.
- Look at RPI. The Jazz have the highest RPI at .592 which is the highest RPI since the 15-16 GSW and one of the highest in NBA history. Their RPI is currently higher than the world champion GSW's was that year and .42 higher (a significant margin in this statistic) than the 2014-2015 Hawks.
- Look at the conference they're playing in and their strength of schedule. The Hawks finished with the 16th rated SOS. The Jazz are currently sitting at #1. (some sites have them lower but all in the top 5)
On second thought...offense intended. Stop making this comparison. It's garbage.
