This is why I asked. It's because it's a definition without a use or purpose
other than correcting people for a perceived grammatical change.
If you want to study a definition to understand something better, then you have to bridge it to practical application and insight or it's completely useless.
If I wanted to convincingly explain that that the word butterfly really means that "butter flies", even if I were right, what practical use could that have for you?
