that and for flight cancelations/changes - rental car fiascos / covid testing rules and changes that may come about due to covid/rebooking and/or canceling cruises & dealing with credits, etc. — this is where we're at with travel.
If you're set going through Costco or online to save money, then it's going to be on you to make those changes - and have to wait for hours to get through.
Spring break was a good trial to go through for the travel industry in dealing with a surge of customers hitting various segments of travel, as it has highlighted a lot of the gaps. So many in these industries were let go and there's no way for them to hire and retrain fast enough to provide the type of customer service we were accustomed to pre-pandemic.
My wife is a travel agent (and she's been slammed for the past 4 months not just with requests - but she's dealing with all of these things for her clients)...definitely a true differentiator in terms online vs personalized service - plus she doesn't even charge for these things.
