The difference was that back in those days, we drank a lot less soda

As a kid, a can of soda was a real treat for me. Most families didn't have cases of soda sitting in the pantry. Restaurants didn't have giant cups and unlimited refills on fountain drinks, and the majority of gas stations didn't sell fountain drinks. If you finished your small soda, then that was it.
