Noticed some cultural differences here and there, but the most glaring was how hard it is to find Pastrami. There are obviously the great delicatessens like Katzs to get a good pastrami sandwich, but grocery stores like Walmart, Kroger, HEB, exc. dont carry it besides fresh cut from the deli if that. I even have a couple co-workers who had no clue what it was, which i also find odd being in BBQ/brisket country.
