I would say the first map is more accurate

For the most part, people in Utah call it pop, especially outside of the Wasatch front. I grew up in Utah and never heard to it referred to as soda until I attended BYU and had roommates from the East coast. I now call it soda because I live in California, but when we lived in Michigan and Ohio, it was definitely pop.
