What’s some generally accepted financial advice that you haven’t found to be
true in your experience.

I’d say buying used cars or driving cars for over 100k miles or until they die.

The maintenance costs on my crappy cars combined with holding basically no value at trade-in have not been worth it compared to driving newer/better cars.

I drive too many miles to really look into leasing new cars, but that might be the route I take when I get older.

Also, saving up for a big down payment on a house would not have been smart.
