We had a perfectly fine, functioning fence on my back property line. New lady
moved in and wanted to replace it with a new vinyl fence that looked better. We legitimately didn't care what the fence looked like and didn't have the money (of course we could have come up with the money if we wanted to) and didn't have a problem with the existing fence. She said no problem, she has the money to do it and she just wanted to make sure we were okay with her taking down the old fence and putting up a new one. We said go for it.

It does look nicer and I kind of feel bad not pitching in but paying a few thousand dollars on a fence that wasn't needed was not something we wanted to do. She's been cool about it. She remembers the days of raising kids and prioritizing money. She said she was done raising kids and wanted an ascetically pleasing fence.
