I think the idea of "hoping for the best" is realizing you can't control
everything. You have open talks and try to help them make the best decisions and then hope for the best. My kids have phones, but no social media yet. The time will come where I probably need to cave but not yet.
And I'm not sure how you have HS kids without phones. Good on you if that works. I couldn't not have my kids have phones.
