is really just as far as social media & phones go. My son is driving now, and I obviously "hope for the best" when he drives. But social media is something that it just seems like they can do without - and it seems like it can cause problems, so I'd rather not "hope for the best".
I know it's anecdotal, but I have a niece that would love to play (spend time with, read to, hold the baby, etc.) with my kids whenever we went over to her house (they live a ways away, so we only saw here a few about 6 times per year.) Then she got a phone, and she never (and I mean never) played with my kids again.
Also, my friend has a group of friends in the ward that all get along. Then one of them got a phone, and that's all he does now. He never hangs out with the group of friends.
Phones are a BIG convenience, but my kids say they don't even want one.
