That would be a bad move for OU and Texas.
They would compete well but they would win fewer games and conference championships.
There can only be one SEC champion, Bama, Auburn, LSU, A&M, UGA, and UF are all title contenders when they are fully operational. OU and Texas are in that category as well but going through TCU, TT, Ok State, and West Virginia is a lot easier.

I could definitely see BYU being asked to join a gutted Big XII. I don't know if BYU should do that if OU and Texas bail
