No, because the eastern mountains are not in a desert and are lower elevations
Eastern mountains are green and tree covered. They're definitely different than western mountains that are mostly bare rock, especially at the peaks. They're all in areas that get 5X to 10X the rain per year that western mountains get, so they naturally have more vegetation growing on them.
