Maybe he thought this was game four and already started his travel back to SLC..
for game 5. He'd be about 1/2 way to Reno with all of those steps.

Hard to tell, but his hand might still be on top of the ball.

Steps don’t count while your dribble is active.
PHXSUNS31

If that isn't a travel than the rule is dumb/wrong. 4 steps after the last

I think it still might be a travel..I can’t tell when he picks up the ball
PHXSUNS31

The travel should be from when you last dribble the ball. If you don't "gather"
cougaman

PHXSUNS31

So lets make the rule that you can take 5-10 steps after your last dribble? I
cougaman

But how do you define his last dribble? Can’t be when the ball hits the ground
PHXSUNS31
6/13/21 10:21pm
When the ball touches your hand, you get 2 steps after that. If you take more it

And many of us grew up playing that the rule was 2 steps from when you picked up

But the NBA wants to justify travelling so they added a vague "gather" so they

You’re welcome to your opinion..I’m just trying to explain the rule
PHXSUNS31

I understand the "rule" and its a dumb rule to justify how they let their stars

Even then, the dribble doesn’t end until the ball is back in the player’s hand,

For those who are confused about active dribbles. Here you go:

Ball has to keep bouncing on the ground to keep dribble active.

Well yes, but it doesn’t end the after it last touches the ground
