I've had this same thing happen twice in the last month. Once with Delta, once

with American. Delta made their flight change so the second leg of the flight was actually before the first leg, so it would impossible to complete the second flight without a time machine. They knew they were screwing up, as they even flagged that we would have trouble making our connecting flight. I think Delta is a total joke.

I am confused by this. SWA has done the same to me but they let you switch to a different flight at no extra charge.

They don't charge a change fee, but they do upcharge to whatever the new fare is

No, they don’t. If they change your schedule, they allow you to change to a new route for free. It was super easy.
