I grew up lower middle class in rural Nevada and never went into debt for college because I was able to get need-based scholarships and come back home between semesters. And o viously the BYU tuition was excellent, but I'd have had even more financial advantages at BSU or UNR. Neither of which were local to me.

My main advantages were a stable home and that I took advantage of the helps available for me to seek out from high school counseling services.
