Hard to make a case that any church calling is self-congratulatory or humble
brag when they receive no compensation for their efforts.
Like belittling the individual who lets you know they volunteer at the senior center, food pantry or shelter every week.
Ok so church leaders may get pride or the praise of man for their wisdom and strength and countless hours of service. But that is generally the exception to the rule of imperfect individuals who just do their best in whatever church calling they receive.
Many of my friends have commented that the strength of our church is in its lay clergy.
