people fly from all over the world and never see outside the resort except to and from the airport. I admit to being a bit of a travel snob...but that drives me crazy.

Go explore, go to the zona colonial of Santo Domingo, go out at night and find fun food and live music. Visit Faro a Colòn and Los Tres Ojos (just east of there).

The country is small, so hire a driver and go drive up through it to the other beach towns and see places like Santiago, San Francisco de Marcoris, El Seibo, etc. along the way.
