My sons (17, 16, & 11) purport to being big fans of BYU and certain professional sports teams. They love to talk about the stats, wear the gear, etc. That said, when it comes time to sit down and watch an actual game, they don't act like it's a very big deal to not watch the game or they lose interest and quickly get distracted. They would much rather just watch the ESPN hi-light clips and read the box scores (while the game is in progress). I think that it comes down to kids having shorter attention spans these days due to their electronics and need for instant information and gratification. IMHO, this is one of the reasons that sports attendance is going down in general.
