1) BYU people get married earlier, and most of them aren’t having sex till they’re married. So you’ve got attractive girls marrying the big shot that’s available at the time they want to get married, even though his earning potential isn’t yet proven.

2) Attractive girls at BYU also seem to be more open to dating nerds, average-looking guys, and men who otherwise wouldn’t be pulling as good-looking of women. I don’t know exactly why this is. Maybe they’re less shallow. Maybe they’re valuing “spirituality” or something. But it is a thing. People from other universities comment a lot on the number of attractive women they see at BYU dating not-so-attractive guys. I’m sure many among us benefitted from this phenomenon. (I did)

But out in the rest of America people are getting married a little later and the most attractive women in an environment can wait and choose the guy who will provide the lifestyle they want.

For those who are blessed to be beautiful AND ALSO invest the most into trying to further improve their appearance, the exposure and clout of being a pro athlete WAG is better than just marrying a rich CEO.
