I turned down scholarships to SUU/Dixie level schools to preferred walk-on D1
(Football).. That didn’t work out (mission, injury, coaching change, cut) so went back and gave myself one year at a JC (different sport in baseball) to land D1 spot. Didn’t. But was able to use sports to transfer to an Ivy League school where I was going to play both football and baseball before being injured for good in football.

Personally I think 1-2 years of inferior education is reasonable but more than that and I felt it risked my future non sports career.. which in hindsight might have been better for me haha.

But I’ll echo what others says. We’ve had 5 in my family play college sports. No one had all that great of an experience and when combined with all my friends/teammates/etc that played I woukd guess only 25% or so actually had positive experiences
