FTR too, Lightfoot's version of "Me and Bobby McGee" was the best by far ...

Waylon Jennings? Nope.
Kenny Rogers? Uh uh.
The Grateful Dead? Nah.
Johnny Cash? No.
Olvia Newton-John? No way.
All due respect to Kris Kristofferson for writing the song and Roger Miller for first recording it, Gordon Lightfoot's version is the best. Period.
BTW, people love Janis Joplin's version for the same reason people posthumously love Nirvana.
