kid in my scout troop beat a guy to death with a tire iron a few years after we left scouts
he and his buddies driving around and passed some guy on the street, came back and killed him. presumed that it was some kind of gang thing.
he was just a quiet little kid a few years younger than me, so I couldn't even picture him doing anything at all violent.
