there in her home. She still had the blood stains on the floor and had made kind of a shrine.

Fratricide

So one dead son and two in jail. The murderer son had also tried to kill her and she still had axe slashes in the metal courtyard door where he tried to cut his way in. She showed us the axe which was still in the courtyard.

One day when we were teaching her new member lessons at her house she let us know the good news that her son had been released from prison and was home now (though out at the moment).

“The one in for drugs?” I asked.

“No, the one in for murder.”

My companion and I looked at the corner of the courtyard and saw the axe was missing.

“Well, how about a closing prayer?” 🤣

The axe didn’t make a dramatic appearance or anything, but it was an interesting moment.

She wanted us to teach him and baptize him, but he was… how shall I say… not ready for that. He’d been in the KLA and had seen and done some pretty horrific things in Kosovo.

One day he was with our zone leader and could kind of tell he was terrified. So he explained how little human life meant to him and how he would kill anyone if they had enough money to be worth the trouble.

Then he demonstrated how he would do it by using his two fingers to represent a knife and poked them into the DL’s throat and said,
“I’d cut them from here (jabbing his fingers in just below the jaw under one ear) and pull it all the way through to here (pushing his fingers in as he dragged across his throat to the other ear and pushing his head back)”
Then while holding his fingers there asked, “How much money *do* you guys carry around?”

DL was freaking out but trying to hold it together. Meanwhile a senior missionary who was there but didn’t speak any Albanian had no idea what was going on and got the giggles thinking the situation was funny and the DL’s face was hilarious.
This agititated the murderer since he didn’t like being laughed at and preferred to have people terrified of him. So he jabs his fingers a little more and says “What is he laughing at?!!”

Terrified further, the DL tried to get him to please stop laughing, but once Elder Eastman gets the giggles, he’s got the giggles.
