You’re right, there is more to conference affiliation than money. There are also things like closer academic affiliations and collaborations.
So you think UN President is going to leave the BIG TEN—one of the most prestigious conferences (academically and athletically)—to join the leftover dregs of the BIG XII—so they can win more??
It’s laughable. Historically dumb. I mean, think of all those P5 schools who could “win more and dominate” if they joined a G5.
And you don’t get better by lowering the quality of competition.
