Of history, endowment, resources, alumni size, recruiting, just by being known as a non BCS, newcomer...Utah is lower tier.
Just looking at the Pac: USC, UCLA, ASU, CU all have markedly more history, decades with more money and as good or better recruiting destination.
To the north, UW, Cal, Oregon, Stanford all the same.
Puts Utah toward the bottom third. Before 2014, Utah was lucky to be in the top 50 or 69 recruiting.
My point is that Utah’s expectations should be 4-6 wins a year. If Utah averages 9 wins over a 6 year run, that’s phenomenal.
No other lower tier schools anywhere near that.
Just putting it into perspective.
Now after winning as much as they have, Utah perception wise is toward the top of conference.
