IMO, a Big 12 championship would go a long way toward improving BYU's reputation
as a football program--even if it came in a conference without Texas or OU. Multiple Big 12 championships would be go a lot further in establishing BYU as a football powerhouse than multiple strong seasons as an independent.
On the other hand, only being a mid-tier team in a diluted Big 12 would be a disaster--regardless of how great our home attendance is.
