It's hypocritical for a conference that includes two other Christian Faith...
...Based Universities to compete too. Both Baylor and TCU are agreeably Christian based and Bible thumping to boot. Doctrinal view: they either have to say they believe in compromise on Gods word, something that probably would not go over well with much of their donor base. BYU's honor code is BYU's business. It is not discriminatory for BYU to have its own standards. What ISU wants is to impose ITS BELIEF SYSTEMS on BYu and that is simply a reduction of institutional freedom, not enlightened or tolerant live-and-let-live philosophy. BYU does not seek to force it's values on other, but does not play on Sundays and morality codes are BYU's concerns, not any other institution. ISW is attempting to force its view of order on people who's views are set and not changing because of a believe in a higher power. Who made a few Socialist ISU students arbiters of justice? They elected themselves to that post, a post and position that is wholly untenable in the face of the first Amendment. If so enlightened, ISU students should be willing to accept that not everyone thinks like them. If anything, the fact that a small activist body of them even get away with it is a disgusting display of intolerance and bigotry, but on their part. People that elect to attend BYU do so at choice and agree to the stipulated Honor Code. Is ISU saying BYU students do not have right to bind themselves to that code? How narrow minded that would be.
