I’ve been to almost every home game since 1987
In that time this song has only ever been played when BYU is up by at least 3 touchdowns, generally if not always during a break in play and AT MOST once per season and I can’t possibly imagine anyone on the team taking note that it’s even being played for the 15-20 seconds that a single tuba player belts it out.
Therefore, I am very confident in saying it has never been played in a scenario where BYU needed a boost late in the game (or at any point in the game).
