They traded Darnald so offsets were not in play.
I heard on a podcast that offsets have only come into play for first-round draft picks one time in the past 10 years and it was for a very minimal amount of money.
Woody Johnson is hung up on principle and Jets fans are crushing him because of it.

The jets budge. They have way more pressure on them than Zach does.

And it is absurd the Jets want offset language for the #2 pick.

Jets won't give in on offsets. It is in every contract and Sam Darnold held out

Trevor Lawrence doesn't have offsets in his contract. Neither does Fields.

I'm sure it's a directive that comes from management.

Then why do 30 of 32 teams have it in all of their contracts?
Fdnman

Articles I've seen on Lance were no offsets and the issue was when the signing

Offsets make sense to me.

Seems so unlikely that it will actually benefit the organization that it’s dumb for them to insist on it.

In the past I would have agreed. I've become much more player friendly as I have

The offset seems the most fair.

Now do all the things that the NFL teams do to players.

I suspect it has more to do with bonus payout timing
