It's not a one-way street. A contract is a contract. If a team agrees to pay a player X and it's guaranteed, X should be guaranteed.
If they then choose to cut the player, that's their choice. They don't have to cut the player. They can keep the player. Or they can cut the player. But they signed an agreement that they would pay him X money guaranteed. NFL teams shouldn't be able to dengle players like marionettes.
NFL teams wipe their hineys with players routinely. It's about time players actually get more say in what happens.
I certainly won't go quite so far as to equate it to slavery like some have, but there is a massive power disparity between how the NFL treats players, and how other professional leagues treat players.
And NFL players actually put their lifelong health on the line to play the game.
Nobody pays to see owners.
