Osaka quit French Open after 1st round. LeBron walked out in 4Q in playoffs
And this has all been in the past couple months.
And while not Jordan, Pippen did exactly what you described when he quit during the last seconds of a playoff game b/c a final shot was drawn up for Kukoc and not him.
Look, athletes (including some of the best in the world) sometimes quit…and on the biggest stages. I agree, the current situation is certainly newsworthy. I just don’t think it’s completely unprecedented. Altho admittedly I’m not a follower of gymnastics so maybe there’s something more unique about this situation I’m not grasping.
