Why pay more for the same thing. BYU as an Indy is a good ROI. Even at 20 mil (per article speculation on post BIG12 TV deal) after the current GOR is up for the BIG12 would probably be at least 13 million more for BYU (Assuming BYU gets around 7 mil, pure speculation).
