Watching women’s beach volleyball and the same play was challenged twice, the first time the ball was in and the second time the ball was out. I have no idea what just happened.

The sand on the tap bounced up off the tape which would only happen if the ball

Usually in that type of situation, if the ref really feels it's not clear, they just replay the point. Makes no sense.

The sand on the tape is definitive proof the tape was contacted by the ball

Watch the sand sitting on the tape. It jumps straight up and lands back on tape
