Communism has taken over the Chinese culture in this respect. You forget that Communism is relatively young still.
Do you think this aspect of Chinese culture started with Communism? Sorry, but you are wrong. This has been a part of Chinese culture and philosophy for centuries. The group/country comes before the individual.
