Not a racoon, but I dropped a sledgehammer 6ft. on a opossum's head when it was
playing dead (I was too squeamish to really swing it). Blood was oozing out of its head, so I assumed it was dead. Went inside to get a trash bag and when I got back it was gone. Critters sure are built to take beatings.
