Threads like this are always pretty entertaining. But there's no way of knowing
who is going to start two or three years from now. Even two or three games from now is an unknown. 2020 was the first time we had a quarterback play the entire year since when. . . Max Hall?

Maybe Conover will be the second coming of Ty Detmer, and he'll end up being an all-time legend. But for every Detmer, there's a guy who never really lives up to his potential. You can have weird years like 2000 where you start the year with one guy who you think will be a stud, and by the end of the year the fourth-stringer that nobody thought was much good ends up winning his first 14 games as a starter.

Or a year like 1992 when you think we've got an all-timer on the field, but he gets injured, and then the next guy turns out to be great, and then he gets injured, and then the next guy's great, but he gets injured, etc.

Or like the last couple of years when some people were mad that Wilson was named the starter, and he ended up where he did.

My point is, it's pretty unlikely that any of us accurately predicts what our stable of QBs will look like three years from now, let alone who will be QB1, or how good any of them will be. The good thing is, all signs seem to point to having three very good quarterbacks on the roster, and even some serviceable guys further down the depth chart. That's a good thing with the chances that we'll need more than one to get through the season. And in the end, the cream will rise to the top, and the coaches will play the guy that they think gives us the best chance of winning. And I'll watch with the unbridled optimism of a fan(atic), hoping for the best each week and cheering on whoever's under center.
