Article sources are estimating a $48M annual drop in TV revenue due to TX and OU
departing and AFTER the addition of the four teams. So yes, the drop is significant.

But you have to remember that 12 teams with an 8 game conference schedule offer more content than 10 teams with a 9 game conference schedule. If the per game value has gone down, then you need to offer TV partners more games to offset that.

And that’s exactly what the Big 12 is doing. While they can’t make up the TX/OU loss completely, they can make some of it up by:

1. adding the most raw value they can in the four teams added, and

2. arrange their scheduling plans to maximize the increase in the number of home games offered to TV partners as potential broadcast content
