Not a 'smart' call, but showed good sportsmanship.
You notice that ASU didn't return the move by taking a knee after the kickoff.
That shows us that it was NOT a smart call. If ASU is still trying and has a chance to win or tie the game, the smart call is to take the extra point and be up by 11, forcing ASU into a 2-point conversion attempt, if they were to score and put the lead in jeopardy.
