We rely on a few trick plays and misdirection to get into the end zone rather than old fashioned pound it out football. Don’t get me wrong, Tyler can pound it, but he isn’t the source of our touchdowns. A lot of scoring has come because our coaches are being creative, not because we have the better team.
On defense, we are playing the odds a lot that the other team will make mistakes. So far it has worked out. We made adjustments against ASU to contain their crazy fast receivers, again due to some good coaching.
As has been said, we are playing ugly yewt style football, and it’s working.
And to add, the wasted plays are a bit of coaching creativity where we are throwing a ton of looks at the defense and eventually the defense makes a mistake and what might have been a wasted play against ASU is a set up for a trick play against USC.
