Obviously the run defense was porous against USF after the first quarter. What does that tell us? BYU’s front7 backups are a big drop off.
The third down conversion rate against USU was porous. What does that tell us? Probably that byu has become a little too conservative with its third down defensive calls, giving the qb too much time, and continues to miss some tackles in the backfield. Credit usu offense for making some plays too. They’ve got a good qb and WRs, especially Thompkins. Lastly one trend is our nickelback getting beat so they may want to take a look at that position and shade help over the middle? He’s only a freshman (2ndyear) so hopefully he can improve, but I don’t think his speed is as good as some of our other secondary players. He is definitely getting targeted in coverage.
