apartment with lots of siblings and a Mom that worked nights in a factory. No father, no supervision 24 hours of the day. Quiet. Didn't really grasp the language despite all kinds of support from church and school. Even played HS sports. Refugee from Africa. Anybody who knows anything about war torn Africa and tribal warfare knows that these kids have seen some of the worst violence this planet has to offer right in front of them throughout childhood. Take a kid like that and place him in a run down apartment with no parental supervision or cultural or family connections and what are the odds of a positive outcome on him or society? Some of us tend to think that just by being in America these refugees are now safe and secure and supervised and all is well with the world. That's the exception actually.
