Okay, so I've played a ton of basketball the past 50 years, but coached very
little. Helping out with 6th grade rec league team now. None of them have played a lot of basketball. I went over picks/screens tonight and they did okay with the concept and execution, but it was new to most of them.

Is it too early to start next week teaching them to screen away from the ball? Cause that's what I really want to do. Not sure if any of you experienced coaches think there's more important fundamental stuff to spend time on or if it will be too complicated for them.

My favorite part of the game is the moving and passing aspect, including back picks and such. Just don't know if I'm getting too far ahead of myself and these inexperienced players.
